DeCals: Teach a DeCal in the English Department

For Fall 2026 DeCals, the English department will start accepting Course Proposal forms for review in April to meet COCI's July deadline.听

To teach a DeCal in the English department, please note that you must complete the following:听

  1. Completed 听
  2. A fully
  3. A letter of support听from听a听member of the English听Department faculty
  4. Submit the for the Chair's Signature 鈥� Due听by听Monday, June 15, at 11:59pm. No exceptions will be made to this deadline.

Tips to ensure your DeCal Course Proposal Form is ready for department review:

  • Please ensure you've completed the necessary听听before submitting the proposal. Facilitators and co-facilitators must complete the听before听submitting their course proposal form (CPF) to the Department and COCI. No exceptions will be made for late/missed training.听
  • Only听one听facilitator听may be listed on the Berkeley Academic Guide. This means only one facilitator will have access to grading. Co-Facilitators will not be considered for course listings; however, co-facilitators can still help run your course and receive credit under English 99/199.听
  • If the department approves your proposal, you must submit all required materials听听by its deadline which is听Tuesday, July 14, 2026
  • For English DeCals, your department staff person is Undergraduate Major Advisor Halle Trang
